Ask a question
What is RevOps, in plain English?

Revenue operations is making sure marketing, sales and customer service run on one process, one set of customer data and one set of tools, so leads turn into customers and customers stay. It covers the systems, the handoffs between teams and the numbers you use to steer.

What is GTM engineering?

Go-to-market engineering is building the automated machinery behind sales: finding the right prospects, filling in their details, routing them to the right person and triggering follow-up. The term was popularized by the sales data company Clay. Think of it as RevOps with more building and less spreadsheet.

Is RevOps only for software companies?

No. Any business with leads, quotes, follow-ups and repeat customers has revenue operations, whether it calls them that or not. Contractors, IT providers, clinics and professional firms often have the biggest, easiest leaks to fix.

What's the difference between RevOps and sales ops?

Sales ops looks after the sales team only. RevOps covers the whole journey, from the first ad or referral through the sale to renewal, so nothing falls into the gaps between teams.

What is a CRM, and do we really need one?

A CRM is the single place where every customer, conversation and open deal lives. If you have more than a handful of leads a week or more than one person following up, a spreadsheet will start losing people. You need one your team will actually keep up to date.

Which CRM is best for a home services company?

Field service platforms like ServiceTitan, Jobber or Housecall Pro handle scheduling and dispatch. Sales-focused tools like HubSpot or GoHighLevel are stronger on follow-up and marketing. Many companies use one of each, connected. The right answer depends on your size and what your team will use.

What does CRM hygiene mean?

Keeping customer records accurate: no duplicates, no missing phone numbers, every open deal with a next step and a date. Bad data quietly breaks everything built on top of it, from reports to automated follow-ups.

How fast should we respond to a new lead?

Minutes, not hours. With automation an instant text reply is easy to set up. A common RevOps benchmark is to target under five minutes and treat one hour as the absolute limit. Here's a simple follow-up system.

What is missed-call text-back?

When a call goes unanswered, the caller automatically gets a text within seconds, something like "Sorry we missed you, how can we help?" It keeps the conversation alive instead of letting them call the next company on the list.

Can AI answer our phones and support questions?

Yes. AI receptionists and support assistants can answer, ask a few qualifying questions, look up what a plan covers and book appointments, day or night. We set clear rules for what they can't say, and a fast handoff to a person when it matters. See a live demo.

Will automation replace our staff?

That is not the goal. Most teams spend a large share of their week on admin rather than customers; Salesforce found sales reps spend just 28% of their week actually selling. Automation hands that busywork to the system so the same people can do more of the work that brings in revenue.

What is pipeline coverage?

The value of open deals compared with your sales target. If you need $100K this quarter and have $350K in open quotes, coverage is 3.5x. A common rule of thumb is to aim for 3 to 4 times your target.

What's a good win rate?

It varies a lot by industry, deal size and lead source. Many B2B teams land somewhere between 20% and 35%. The more useful question is whether yours is improving, and where in the process deals are being lost.

What is churn?

Clients who stop buying from you. For subscription or contract businesses it is the share that cancel or don't renew. Most churn is quiet: no complaint, just no renewal, often after months without a check-in.

What is net revenue retention (NRR)?

How much revenue you keep from last year's clients after cancellations, downgrades and upgrades. Above 100% means existing clients are growing on their own. The median for B2B SaaS companies sits close to 101%.

How do we grow revenue from existing clients?

Give every account an owner, check in on a schedule, and offer the right upgrade or add-on when a client hits a milestone or outgrows their plan. Ask happy clients for reviews and referrals at the moment the job closes. Most of this can be triggered automatically, so it happens every time.

How much does fractional RevOps cost?

At Upshift: a Revenue Audit is $3,500–$8,000, fixed-scope builds $8,000–$35,000, and monthly retainers run from $2,500 to $15,000+ depending on hours. Every retainer is month to month, with no minimum term. Full breakdown.

Is fractional cheaper than hiring full time?

Usually. Industry estimates put a full-time RevOps hire at $118K–$187K a year all-in, against $48K–$132K for fractional support, and you get senior experience from day one without a recruiting process.
